Sharon Smith, 69, of Evadale passed away Friday, January 13, 2023. She was born on May 10, 1953 in Houston, Texas to the late Gloyd G. Brannam and Ruby Dixon Brannam.
Sharon grew up in Pasadena, where she made lifelong friendships. She and Jerry moved to Evadale early on in their marriage and you probably know her from one of the local stores, working on one of the many parade floats, or at one of the girls’ sporting events. A lover of life, no matter where you saw her, she could be seen with a smile on her face. She was known for cooking enough food for an army and swearing to never cook that much again, only to cook twice as much next time. There aren’t too many Shih Tzus that eat as good as Bandit and Thumper did as they truly lived up to the saying “lucky dogs”. She loved her animals and being in the woods, but her biggest loves were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. There’s nothing in the world she wouldn’t have done for them, and it showed with her Texas size heart. Sharon was surrounded by everything she loved the most when she passed peacefully in her home, where she no doubt took a piece of Evadale with her, as she will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Grayson Smith.
Sharon is survived by her sister, Martha Whitsitt; sisters-in-law, Shawn Caddell and Kathy Stines; children, Jeff Smith and wife Linda, Shellie Miller and husband Ron, Sherrie Colca and Haythem Dawlett, and Shannon Smith; grandchildren, Corbynn Filipp and husband Hunter, Skylar Smith and wife Sierra, Garrett Smith and wife Taylor, Kyler Vernon, Keaton Colca, Dillan Smith, Austin Ashley, Kamryn Colca, Keelie Ashley; great grandchildren, Carter Filipp, Liam Smith, Maylinn Smith, Brantley Smith, Heston Filipp, Hayes Filipp; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
