Alcius "Al" Guillory Obituary

Alcius “Al” Louis Guillory Jr., 87, formerly of Silsbee, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his place of residence. He was born November 21, 1933 in Eunice, Louisiana to the late Alcius Louis Guillory Sr. and Isabelle Dardeau. Guillory.

Al served in the US Navy Seabees from 1952-1956. He graduated from Lamar University as a Chemical Engineer and made his career at Temple Inland Papermill. Al was a beloved husband, dad, and PawPaw. He loved to tell stories and jokes, his favorite being “The Lusty Buzzard”. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, creating scale models from scratch, work puzzles, dancing, and stained-glass work. He actually created a stained-glass window for a church in Silsbee. His family benefited greatly from his creativity and workmanship, yet, his needs were simple; his chair and a TV. Al was married to his lovely wife Rita for 62 years and he loved her cooking. He loved history and geography because he enjoyed learning and traveling. He was also active in the Catholic Church. Al was especially proud of his Cajun roots and enjoyed Mardi Gras. “Les Bon Temp Roule” was his favorite saying. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Margaret Guidroz, Genevieve Marie Irwin, Amelia Robideaux; and his brothers, Raymond, Herbert, and Francis Guillory.

Al is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rita Jeanelle Daigle Guillory; sister, Lucille Guillory Orzeske; his children, Karen Elizabeth Wallace, Melinda Kay McNeely, William Kevin Guillory, and Robin Renee Gee; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to BEST Hospice of Beaumont. Thank you for taking such great care of our Dad.

A memorial service to honor Mr. Guillory’s life will be held at a later date.
