Alfonso Ortega Moreno

Mr. Alfonso Ortega Moreno of Kountze, Texas passed away Thursday, August, 27 2020 in Lufkin, Texas at the age of 98.

Mr. Moreno was born August 18, 1922, in Jiquilpan, Michoacán, Mexico to his parents Luis Moreno and Juana Ortega. Alfonso moved to Texas when he was only a teenager. He joined the United States Army where he found his path to citizenship. We honor his many years of faithful service until his honorable discharge. Alfonso was a successful construction worker for many years in the Houston area. He would finally settle in Southeast Texas, where he worked over thirty years for the City of Silsbee, Water and Sewer Department until his retirement. His real passion was woodwork, especially cabinetry.  His family will hold his memory in their hearts forever. “Mighty Fine”

He is survived by his sons, Patrick Cannon and wife Diane, George Moreno and wife Guadalupe, Joe Moreno and wife, Paula Michelle, and Alfonso Moreno Jr.; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; other family members, and friends.

Alfonso is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Jimmy Jason Carr and Paul Moreno; and daughter Tara Renee Moreno.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Moreno, Joe Moreno, Patrick Cannon, George Moreno Jr., Daniel Moreno, Adrian Moreno, Anthony Moreno, and Brian Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at Farmer Funeral Home Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 3PM with burial to follow at Resthaven cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 1-3PM.

Services are held under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.
