Allen Ray Gilley, born on February 4, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas, passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 77. Allen was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Opal Gilley and his older brother, Harry Wayne Gilley.
He was a beloved husband, dedicated father, proud grandfather and great grandfather. Allen married his wife, Peggy Gilley, on November 12, 1965, and together they shared 58 years of love and companionship.
Allen dedicated himself to serving others as the captain of the Beaumont Fire Department, ultimately retiring after 35 years of service. Throughout his career, he demonstrated courage, leadership, and selflessness in protecting the lives and property of others. In addition to his distinguished career, Allen found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
He had a passion for riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, as well as working on old vehicles. He especially loved spending time at his beloved deer camp, affectionately known as the Old Place, where many happy memories were made with friends and family.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Gilley; his devoted son, Doug Gilley and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Gilley; his cherished daughter, Lori Cobb and son-in- law, Paul Cobb; his brother-in-law, Mark Lakey and wife Denise; his adored granddaughters, Allison Jones and her husband, CJ Jones and Makayla Cobb; his precious great-grandchildren, Emily and Madelyn Jones; and his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
