Bernis Lynn Self

A military graveside service for Bernis Lynn Self, 84, of Lumberton will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee.  Mr. Self passed away March 18, 2020 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

A native of Beaumont, Bernis was a resident of Lumberton.  He proudly served his country for 35 years in the US Army, where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant (E8).  After retiring from the Army, he was an inventor, pastor and worked as a chemical engineer. Bernis loved fishing and camping.  In the mid 1980's, Mr. Self moved to Calico Rock, Arkansas and began his work for the Lord with "Nailbenders for Jesus".

Mr. Self is survived by his wife Laruth Self and sons Donald Self and Lloyd Self; daughter Brenda Self; brother Miles Self and sister Maura Self. He is also survived by grandchildren, Heather Chelsea and Austin Self and Jess Natane Self and great-grandchildren McKenzie Gillespie, KK Gillespie, Bentley Gillespie, Abby Self, Stephen Self and Landon Allen Self.
