Betty Jean (Odom) Gilchriest

Betty Jean (Odom) Gilchriest, 85, passed away April 14, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX.  Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, April 18, 2022 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee and visitation will be from 12 pm until time of service. Interment will follow in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.

Mrs. Gilchriest was born April 14, 1937 in Fred to Willie P and Eunice Weaver Odom.   She married the love of her life, Arthur Gerald Gilchriest, November 7, 1954 and they have enjoyed life together for 67 years.  Betty was a member of the Spurger Chapter 315 Eastern Stars.  She enjoyed fishing at her daughter's camp and loved to gamble.  Betty Jean was happiest when surrounded by her family.  

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; son Franklin Dow Gilchriest, brothers Edward "Sugarman" Odom and Leon Odom, sisters Helen Tolar and Cordie Delcambre, half-sister Lillian Lynch and half-brother Franklin Dean.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband Arthur Gerald Gilchriest, daughters Geraldine Davis & husband Roger and Martha Willis and husband Greg; grandchildren Gary Davis, Daniel Davis, Mitchell Hooks, Jessica Hooks and Matthew Hooks; eight great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her siblings, Katherine Johnson, June Cabiness, Don Odom, Vonita Mouton, Roger Dale Odom, Teddy Ray Odom and Phyllis Willis, many extended family members, loads of friends and her precious fur baby Charlie, who is lost without her.  Pallbearers are Gary Davis, Daniel Davis, Matthew Hooks, Mitchell Hooks, Jimmy Read and Willie Tolar.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
