Betty Sue Stringer of Evadale, Texas was born to Annie and Lee Spurlock on July 30, 1933 in Warren, Texas. She was raised and attended school in Silsbee, Texas where she met and later married her husband, Jason Stringer, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Betty spent the last few years of her life at Spanish Trails Assisted Living in Silsbee, Texas under the wonderful and loving care of the caretakers there. The residents and staff became part of our family. When she went to the hospital, they were so good to check on her often and maybe even send along a paper or two because they knew she liked her coffee and the morning paper to start her day. She also liked to read over her recipe books, well worn, with the notes on the pages about how good or bad each one was. In her day, she loved to cook and try out new recipes as often as she could.
She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Evadale, Texas and liked to note that she was the first person baptized in the "at the time" new church building. She loved to sing and passed her love of music along to her children.
Betty is survived by her children, son, Joe Stringer, and wife, Kay, daughter, Debbie Brenner Smith, daughter, Sherry Gipson, and husband, Eddie, and son, Alan Stringer, and wife, Juliana, all of Evadale, Texas; a sister, Billie Gibson, of Silsbee, Texas, a brother, Wayne Spurlock, and wife, Diann, of Kenney, Texas; She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, and 12 & 9/10 great grandchildren.
