Billie Jean Maida passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose life was guided by her strong Christian faith. She was the kindest, most fierce woman her family knew. Billie Jean loved the Lord and lived her life with kindness, grace, and compassion, serving as a shining example to her family and all who knew her.
Her greatest joy was her family. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who held several positions throughout her life to provide for her family, most notably serving faithfully at Silsbee State Bank for 36 years until her retirement. She treasured time spent at the lake, loved fishing with her grandchildren, enjoyed square dancing, and loved crocheting, often creating beautiful handmade gifts that will be cherished for generations. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and loving heart made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Billie Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Maida; her parents, Velbert Crocker and Virgie Crocker; her father, Newton Murphy; and her sisters, Martha Sue Golden and Nelda Faye Sheffield.
Billie Jean is survived by her loving children: Timothy Stephens and wife Stella; Danny Stephens and wife Jean; Sherry McKee and husband Alan; and Beau Maida and wife Dana; her sister, Linda Carol Sandford; and her brother, Kenneth Crocker and wife Rosalee.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Dave Stephens and wife Kim; Eric Stephens; Angela Stephens; Christi Gibson and husband Thomas; William Georgas and wife Darlene; Shawn Hollyfield and wife Shanna; Chad Hollyfield; Brent Hollyfield and wife Fara; and Misty Partain and husband Michael, as well as 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Billie Jean’s strong Christian faith sustained her throughout her life, and her family finds comfort and peace in knowing she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior, reunited in heaven with her beloved family members and dancing and singing with the angels. Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
