Billy Black Obituary

Billy Gene Black, 89, of Silsbee passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021. He was born May 21, 1932 in Louann, Arkansas to the late John Jessie Black and Maggie Jane Cox Black.

Billy was a Korean war veteran and served in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Betty Jo Thomas in 1951 in El Dorado Arkansas and they had two children together. They were married nearly 70 wonderful years. He worked for the paper mill in Evadale for many years before retiring. Billy enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and he loved his family dearly. He will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; numerous siblings; and one daughter, Melinda Jean Black.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Betty Jo Black; his children, Cindy Sharp and husband Cleve, John Jessie Black and wife Andrea; two grandchildren, Jay Sharp and wife Kathy, Faith Sharp; and six great grandchildren, Jadyn, Jeremiah, Benjamin, Jubilee, Shane, and Heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Farmer Funeral Home with burial to follow at RS Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening, June 18, 2021 from 7-9PM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Sharp, Jeremiah Sharp, Shane Mitchell, David Berwick, Ethan Berwick, Greg Black, and Trampus Black.
