Captain Garry Lee Swanson, 81, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born on Friday, October 29, 1943, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to G.T. "Shorty" and Lillie Irene (Mitchell) Swanson.
Garry obtained a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Central State University, in Edmund, Oklahoma. He went on to retire from the United States Air Force after serving 23 years in various roles, including an Intelligence Officer and drug intervention team member. Garry will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing and golf. He was also a percussionist in numerous Country and Western bands, for over 30 years. He will forever remain a loving husband, father, and grandpa.
Survivors include his wife of over 61 years, Marty Swanson; daughter, Darla Baugh, and her husband, Brad; son, Glenn Swanson, and his wife, Aimee; grandchildren; Brandon and Cassidy Baugh, Ryan Swanson Garrett Swanson, and his wife, Ajsa, Cole Swanson, and his wife, Rylie, and Audrey, Sydney and Carter Swanson; his brother, Wayne Swanson, and his wife, Sherry; sister, Thelma Warner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Rita Savage.
Captain Swanson will have a graveside service, with Military Honors, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Holland Cemetery Eastern end of Holland Cemetery Rd. Kountze, TX 77625.
