Catalina (Villa) Cowart

Catalina Villa Cowart, 79, of Silsbee, TX departed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, April 10, 2023. She was born on November 25, 1943, in Morelia, Michoacan to the late Francisco Villa and Ascension Hernandez Villa.  She was a beloved stepmom, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Catalina enjoyed, needle work, sewing, crocheting, and her hydrangeas. She was known for making beautiful wedding dresses.  She loved travelling to California to see her sisters. She was known for always taking care of others, especially children.  She also loved collecting elephant figurines. Catalina had quite the sense of humor and made everyone laugh.  She attended St. Marks Catholic church for many years and was dedicated to her faith.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward E. Cowart; her parents Francisco Villa and Ascension Hernandez Villa; brothers, Julio Villa and Saul Villa; sister, Irene Chavez Villa.

She is survived by her brother, Leonel Villa; sisters Lucy Murilo and husband Angel, Anna Maria Gonzales and husband Georgio, Elizabeth Villa Hernandez, Efigenia Villa Hernandez; step children, Christi Cowart Fling and husband Roy of Evadale, Cathy Cowart Humphrey of Lumberton, E.E. “Bud” Cowart Jr. and wife Carrie of Wildwood, Mary Cowart Zalar and husband Mark of Atascocita, John Paul Cowart and wife Norma of Liberty Hill; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; her very best friend Teresa Madison and all of her Silsbee Oaks family and friends.

Catalina will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Teresa Madison and families would like to extend a huge thank you to all of her nurses, nurse’s aides and medication nurses who provided the utmost care, compassion and friendship for Catalina Cowart.  To Anna Tanton, Shelly Burns, and the staff, to each and every one of you, thank you for making the transition less stressful and peaceful and helping to create a homelike environment for Catalina Cowart to accept leaving her personal home to her new home at Silsbee Oaks.

A “Celebration of Her Life” will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. at the Silsbee Oaks Health Care, 920 E. Ave. L, Silsbee, TX  77656.

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Catalina Cowart to the Activities Department at Silsbee Oaks Health Care, 920 E. Ave. L, Silsbee, TX  77656.
