Charlie Nell (Griffith) Hancock

Charlie Nell Hancock, 93, of Silsbee passed away on February 29, 2020 at Harbor Hospice after a short illness. 

Charlie Nell was born March 26, 1926 to Nellie Jeffcoat Griffith and Charlie Steven Griffith in Spurger, Tx. She was the second eldest of 11 children. Charlie Nell would have turned 94 on March 26, 2020. 

Charlie Nell came to know and accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age and started her work with the Lord at First Baptist Church of Spurger, Tx. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in Silsbee for many years. Charlie Nell was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for many years.

Through the years, Charlie Nell worked at many of the area financial institutions and was known and loved by her customers. She never met a stranger and if she did, they didn’t stay one for long. Charlie Nell loved plants, flowers and working in her yard was one of her favorite hobbies.

She loved to dress in pretty clothes and jewelry. Even after entering Silsbee Convalescent Center she would get up every day get dressed up, and put her face on as she called it, then visit with her friends.

She is survived by two loving daughters, Nanell Hancock Olivier and husband Dennis A. Olivier, Sr., Charlotte Hancock Lash and husband Joe Neil Lash. She has two grandsons, Kurt Miller and wife Ashley Miller and Dennis A. Olivier, Jr. and three great-grandchildren, Kyia Miller, Bryce Miller, and Conner Lash. She is also survived by a brother, Sammy Lee Griffith and wife Sandra Griffith, in addition to a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM Tuesday March 3, 2020 at Farmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. A family visitation will be held at 2:30 PM until time of service.

Services are held under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.
