Christopher Tatom, 59, of Silsbee passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He
was born in Kountze on Christmas Day, December 25, 1963, to the late Gerald
Dwain Tatom and Margaret Lafay Chambers.
Chris had a servant’s heart and was very strong in his faith. He pastored Faith
Family Ministries for many years. As a child, Chris loved reading his Bible and
listening to God’s Word preached. All through his life he shared the word of God
with all who would listen. Protecting his family and everyone around him was a very
important thing to Chris. His three daughters and wife were all taught the tactics of
how to keep themselves safe. When Chris wasn’t working at the church, he would
work security at Veritas Classical Academy where his wife Gina teaches second
grade. In the same sense of ensuring the people in his life were safe and taken care
of, he also loved to take care of animals, always bringing in strays to foster until they
found a forever home. If Chris wasn’t working at the church, school, or rescuing
animals, you could find him out tilling in the garden, exercising, or shooting his guns.
Chris was a loving husband, father, brother, preacher, and friend who will be greatly
missed by so many.
John 14:3 says, “If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and
receive you to myself, so that where I am you may also be.” Chris was encouraged
by the fact that Jesus said He would come back and receive us HImself. Jesus was
in the room receiving Chris at his heart’s last beat.
Chris wants you to be received by Jesus one day. He preached salvation to all he
could. Surrender your life to Him.
He is preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Kenneth and Keith Tatom; his
child, Baby Lynn Tatom.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Gina Tatom; daughters, Kristen
Lacey Tatom, Kailey Marie Tatom, and Lauran Victoria “Tori” Tatom; brother, Jerry
Tatom and wife Gay; nieces, Heather Nelson and Lindsey Christian; nephews, Judd
Tatom and Keith Tatom Jr.; and a host of other family members and friends.
