Deport Foxworth, 94, of Kountze, Texas passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 27, 2024. He was born in Coldspring, Texas to the late George Nelson Foxworth and Cassie Jane Whitman Foxworth.
Services will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Visitation is at 1:00 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm. His remains will be at the Hughes Family cemetery in Fawil, Texas.
He and his family moved to Kirbyville, Texas in 1947 and he resided there until 1951 when he was inducted into the U.S Army. He served one year on the front lines of the Korean conflict where he received two bronze stars for meritorious service. He was dismissed from his army duties in late 1952 and returned to Kirbyville where he met his wife, Avrie Lee Hughes, whom he married in 1954. They resided in Highlands, Texas where he was employed by United Gas. In 1956 he was employed by Champion Papermill in Pasadena, Texas. He moved to Channelview, Texas in 1960 and lived there until 1978 when he moved to Hardin County and built a home from the ground up. He was a talented man who created many things during his lifetime. He loved his family dearly and worked diligently to provide for his family’s comfort and well-being. He was of the Christian faith and lived his life according to God’s law, the ten commandments. He was loved by all who knew him and will forever be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Michael; his brother, Raleigh Foxworth, and his wife, Elnora; his two sisters, Thelma McBride and Velma Burton, and her husband Ken; brother- in- laws, Lawrence Hughes, and his wife, Shirley, Albert Hughes, Ottis Hughes, Wiley Hughes and Glen Mora.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Avrie Foxworth; daughter, Angela Valenzuela; son-in-law, Alfredo Valenzuela; grandson, Evan Valenzuela; sister-in-law, Aline Mora; brother-in-laws, Dennie Hughes and wife Jeanette, Floyd Hughes and wife Linda; sister-in-laws, Patricia Hughes and Sherri Hughes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
