Dessie Gore, 94, of Fred, TX passed away July 23, 2020. She was born November 25, 1925 in Fred to Aaron and Effie Hooks Cravy. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother that invited anyone into her home and made them feel welcome. She loved spending time with her family on the Neches River, fishing, swimming, riding in the boat and cooking dumplins, fried fish and hot water corn bread. Mrs. Gore was a very faithful Christian and led by example. She managed with a junior high education, having to start work at an early age at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She loved to quilt, travel and garden. Dessie enjoyed working in her yard where she loved to prune her knock out roses. She was very independent, living by herself after her husband died. She was happiest surrounded by her adoring family and loved family get togethers and holidays.
Dessie is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Arvis Gore, son Robert Gore, great grandson Brian Drake and son-in-law Earl Ard. She is survived by her daughter Betty Ard of Silsbee, son Melvin Gore and wife Rhonda of Fred, special granddaughter Bonnie Owen, grandchildren Katrina Terry, Renee Mitchell, Richard Gore, Aaron Gore, David Lott and Robin Williams, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5-8 pm Saturday at Farmer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 pm Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with Bro Michael Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, TX.
