Dolores Fay King

Dolores Fay King, 85, of Kountze passed away Monday October 27, 2025. She was born Wednesday March 6, 1940, in Quitaque, Texas to the late Seth and Pauline Phillips.

Dolores served a short time in the Marine Corp and met her soon to be husband when her brother Gene brought a friend home. They meet & shortly after, marry and move their growing family North of Kountze to a house on Post Oak Road.

At the time of her death, she was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Village Mills. She was also a member for 30 plus years of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dolores was a dedicated grandmother and spent many hours throwing the baseball in her front yard to Jake. It was also not uncommon for her to allow Dusty & Jake to make mud pies in front of the tv in the living room and when asked about this, she would simply respond, “well it was raining outside”.

She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren, and I know they have fond memories of playing for hours in the pasture, building forts, giving each one of the 20 goats a name and there was their Maw Maw driving the buggy out to bring them lunch.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, John L. King, her sisters, brothers and both parents.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her four children, Brenda and her husband Michael, Diana, Kathy and her husband Ron, and John Thomas; four grandchildren, Michelle, Sean, Dusty, and Jake, eight great grandchildren, Conor, Lucas, Danielle, Liam, Gavin, Alex, Austin, and Aiden; and a host of other family members and friends.
