Donald Spears Obituary

Donald Edward Spears, 68, of Silsbee passed away on February 1, 2021 in Beaumont, Texas.  He was born on October 15, 1952 in Silsbee, Texas to his parents, Boyce Spears and Vera Ferguson-Spears.

Donald was a true man of faith and will be remembered for his pursuant devotion to his Lord Almighty. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for more than 40 years where he served as a Deacon. Donald was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Jan. They were married on June 2, 1972 until his passing. He was an adoring father to his daughters, a loving “Pawpaw” to his grandchildren, and had an unbreakable bond with his siblings. We honor Donald’s sacrifice to our Nation as he faithfully served in the United States Army. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and served as President for many years. Though the family is deeply saddened by their loss, they find comfort in knowing he has joined his Lord and Savior in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Jan Spears; his daughter, Veronica Pelt and husband, Richard; his daughter, Jana Reeves and husband, Trey; his daughter, Sheri Dahnke and husband David; his grandson, Kaleb Reeves; his granddaughter, Tori Dahnke; his grandson, Luke Pelt; his granddaughter, Addisyn Reeves; his granddaughter, Sophia Dahnke; his brother, Melvin Spears and wife, Pat; his brother, Jerry Spears and wife, Lynette; his brother, Gary Spears and wife, Brinda; his sister, Margaret Baker and husband, Jackie; and his brother Bill Spears and wife, Michelle; his numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by other loving family members, friends, and especially his church family.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Boyce and Vera Spears.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Pinecrest Baptist Church in Silsbee with burial to follow at Cunningham Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 12-2PM at the church.
