Bro. Doug Weed was born on December 22, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana to James and Gertrude Weed. He was saved at the age of 17 and not long after attended Bible College at Tennessee Temple University where God called him to preach. It was there that he met his loving wife, Roberta and they were married on April 19, 1980. Following the Lord’s leading, they began attending Maranatha Baptist Church where he served as youth director and Associate Pastor for 8 ½ years. In 1990, God called them to be missionaries in Mexico where God used them to establish 3 churches in Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, and Saltillo. Throughout their ministry, countless lives were reached for the Gospel of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Roberta, his children, Michelle, Julie, Melody, Krystle, Stephen, Charity, and 16 grandchildren.
Doug exemplified his life verse, Philippians 1:21, until he went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2023. Philippians 1:21 says, “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
