Douglas "Gene" Wales

Douglas “Gene” Wales, 53 of Fred passed away on July 12, 2023. He was born on December 2, 1969 in Pt Arthur to the late Karen Morgan Wales and Douglas Eugene Wales.

Gene married his wife Rita on October 19, 2021 after being together 3 years. Gene enjoyed playing & building Cigar Box Guitars. He performed at local bars as “Unkle Nothin”. He also loved to cook and grow vegetables on “the hill”. Gene was an amazing cook who could make something out of nothing. He was working on building a forever home for Rita and him to live in with their dogs and cats. Especially his best feline friend “Rotten”.   

Gene is survived by his wife Rita Wales.  Gene and former spouse Angel had sons - Xavier Wales and Amber Martin, and Armand Wales and Samantha Leger. Also Gene was PopPop to his grandchildren Ashlynn, Sophia, and Matthew. He is also survived by siblings Brenda West and Jeff Wales, and cousin Victor Reese and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
