Earlene Jasper Obituary

Earlene Jackson Jasper, 96, of Silsbee, Texas peacefully left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven late Monday, October 14, 2024. Her wish to spend her final days in her home was fulfilled by her family, who showered much love upon her. She was born May 28, 1928 in Pitkin, Louisiana to Bessie Moore Jackson and William Ivy Jackson.
While born in Louisiana, her family moved to Texas early in her childhood and eventually settled in Call, Texas, where she spent most of her childhood. After she married, she moved to Newton, Texas, where she began raising her children. Later in life, she moved to Silsbee, Texas, which she called home for most of her life. After settling in Silsbee, she worked at the Kirby Mill and Wards Wonderland Nursery, before opening her own daycare out of her home. After years of working with children, she began working as a care provider with Texas Home Health, where she retired from at the age of 82.
She was a devoted mother of 6 children. Her love for her children could be seen in every aspect of their upbringing she gave them. Even after her children were grown and had children themselves, her children knew they would find her love in her embracing hugs and sweet kisses, her listening ear, and her heart of pure gold.
Not only was she devoted to her children, but she was also devoted to her Lord and Savior. She raised her children in church and set an example for them as a devoted Christian. She studied her Bible and actively served in her church. She was a service unto the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher, a Vacation Bible School helper, a nursery worker, and served where she could in many other capacities as needed. For the last 17 years, she was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Silsbee, Texas, where she actively served, until she couldn’t any longer. She cherished every moment she could spend with her family and friends, whether it was for holiday, a birthday, family reunion, or other special occasion. The random visits from her family and friends were what she cherished the most. With every visit you felt her love. She was affectionately known as “Mawmaw” by many, including her grandchildren. Mawmaw will be remembered for her love for her family and friends and her love for God. Her legacy of love for people and God shall live on through her family.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy “Wayne” Wright and wife, Linda; “Buddy” Wright and wife, Sandy; Carlton Wright and wife, Dorothy; Nelda Herrington and husband, Kevin; and Shana Anderson and husband, “Allen”. She is also survived by her brothers, Dorman Jackson and wife, Paula, of Lindale, Texas; Elmo Jackson of College Station, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Laura Nelson of Silsbee, Texas; her daughter-in-love, Pam Nelson of Silsbee, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Moore Jackson; her father, William Ivy Jackson; her sisters, Iverlle Jackson Little and Janeyce Jackson Leavings; her brothers, Ezell Ivy Jackson, Carrol “Wayne” Jackson, Hildridge Othell “Bo” Jackson, and James Lamar “Pinkey” Jackson Sr.; her son, William “Junior” Nelson III; and her granddaughter, Krystle Leigh Roth.
