Edith Louise (Byars) Stephens was born February 26, 1938, in Stanton, Tennessee; to Charles Nathan Byars Jr. and Dorothy Nell (Cook) Byars. She entered into rest May 29, 2022.

She is preceded in death by both parents, and her younger sister, Laura Gail Stephenson, and her beloved Shih tzu, Oliver.

She leaves behind a brother, Kenneth Byars and wife Linda of Caledonia, MS; a daughter, Terri Smith and her boyfriend Mark Daniels of Buna, Tx; a son John (Jay) Stephens and wife Katina of Gatesville, Tx; two granddaughters, Kelsey Camp and husband Dan, and Jaylin Smith of New Braunfels, Tx; three grandsons, Matthew Stephens and wife Chelsea, Riley Stephens and Brendan Stephens; four great grandchildren, Jaylee Jackson, Grayson Jackson, Robert Camp and Luke Stephens; a nephew and two nieces.

Ms. Edith also leaves behind, Laken Jannise Arrant, who was not only her nurse, but a very special friend. She adored Laken and the feeling was mutual with Laken.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Evadale, and a long-time employee for Walmart Garden center until she retired.

Edith was a sweet, simple and kind-hearted person that would help anyone she could. She also loved animals and had a green thumb for flowers.

Funeral services for Edith will be held on June 3 at 10:00am with Mark Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m to 7: 00p.m on June 2; Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

The family would like to thank Laken and all the others that had a hand in moms care at Mill Creek Nursing Home and Woodville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mom loved to give to many charities and in honor of our mother and in lieu of flowers, we request any donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
