Emma G. Self, 95, of Silsbee, passed from this life on Saturday, February 21, 2026. She was born on Saturday, March 8, 1930, in Gross-Umstad, in the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg, in the federal state of Hesse, Germany, to Johannes and Anna (Kirchmeyer) Guth.
Emma was a member of, and very involved in, North Hardin Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed crochet, knitting, doing word search puzzles and especially eating pizza with Coleman. Emma loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Canada, and Corpus Christi with Bessie and Jean-Guy, and loved receiving visits from her German family. She also enjoyed taking care of her “Mini” farm and garden, and planting flowers, as well as many trips to her camp house with family and friends. Her greatest joy was being in the presence of her family and friends, especially her great-granddaughter, Gaby. Emma will be especially missed by her faithful little canine companion, Baby.
Survivors include her daughter, Bessie Self Bonneau and her husband, Jean-Guy; grandsons, Kurtis and Kristoffer Smith; great-grand-daughters, Gabriella and Arya Smith; great-grandson, Bruce Smith; as well as her “Self” family and her “German” family; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Franklin C. Self.
A memorial service for Mrs. Self will be held at North Hardin Baptist Church at a later date.
