Erma Jewel (Rhodes) Parker

Mrs. Erma Parker, a longtime resident of Jasper, Texas, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with her daughter by her side, at the age of 94 years and 8 months. She was born on October 21, 1929, in Huntington, Texas, to D.B.and Josie Thomas Rhodes.

Erma was a Zavalla High School graduate. She was a long time Wal-Mart Sales Associate, in Jasper, Texas, until her retirement in 2020. She loved sitting outside watching nature go by. She absolutely enjoyed watching cartoons on TV, especially that cat and mouse, (Tom and Jerry) she would say. Erma was raised in the Pentecostal Church, although in recent years, she was not affiliated with any church. Due to her age, watching Church service on Sundays, on TV, was how she worshiped. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and how to live her life for Him. She told her daughter, Debora, many times she wanted to go home. In hindsight, she did not mean her house, she meant her Heavenly home.

Erma married Doyal Parker on October 11, 1947. They were married 71 ½ years at his passing in 2019. She still considered herself married, and would tell you they would be married 77 years, in October of this year.

Erma was preceded in death by her best friend, her husband, Doyal Parker, in 2019; her baby daughter, Linda Parker Thomas, in May of 2023; parents, D.B. and Josie Thomas Rhodes; son in law, Kevin Thomas; 4 brothers; a brother-in-law; and 3 nephews.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her daughter, Debora Parker Morgan; grandsons, Jamey Morgan, and Cody Thomas; granddaughter in law, Rachel McGee Morgan; and great-granddaughters, Georgia Alice Morgan, and Winnie Jo Morgan; sister, Patsy Herring; sister in laws, Joyce Rhodes, and Patsy Rhodes. Many nieces and nephews are left to cherish their memories of their aunt.

A gathering of Mrs. Parker’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel 415 N. 4th Street Silsbee, TX 77656. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Her interment will then follow at Franks Branch Cemetery 21650 FM 92 Fred,TX 77656.
