Ernest Ray Marshall, 75, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Christian Fellowship Church in Beaumont, Texas.
Ernest was born July 14, 1948, in Houston, Texas to Ernest and Elizabeth Marshall. He worked as head lab chemist for Texaco, Inc., for thirty years before retiring. He bravely served his country in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War.
Ernest had many hobbies and interests, including riding his motorcycle, fishing, traveling with his bride and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His most cherished family memories include time spent with his family at the lake and watching his great grandchildren grow up. He was a pro circuit fisherman and participated in the Bass Master’s Classic. He wrote a book on oil analysis and traveled the world to share his knowledge with many people. Anyone who knew him, knew that Ernest had great compassion for others and showed love to everyone.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Elizabeth Marshall; and his sister, Penny Peden.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sherial Marshall of Lumberton; sons, Todd Holcomb of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, James Mosley of Texas and Paul Ray Marshall of Lumberton; daughters, Kristan Meredith and husband, Jason of Lumberton, Christy Marshall of Wortham, Texas and Melissa Stanley of Bremond, Texas; grandchildren, Gabrielle Meredith, Tyler Meredith, Caitlyn Prettyman and husband, Chris, Destiny Taylor and husband, CJ, Cameron Martin, and Caitlin Castillo and husband Louis; great grandchildren, Maverick Meyers and Ruby Prettyman; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
