George Vertis Jones, 81, of Silsbee, died Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his residence. He was born on Saturday, September 5, 1942, in Beaumont, to George Alexander Jr. and Martha (Bean) Jones.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of New Beginnings Assembly of God, in Evadale and was a member of the Evadale Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but will be most remembered for his enjoyment of giving folks a hard time. He will forever remain a loving, father, brother, and Papa.
Survivors include his daughters; Penny Kieschnick, and her husband, Jeff, of Evadale and Victoria Crawford, of Silsbee; son, George “G V” Jones Jr., and his wife, Traci, of Silsbee; 12 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren; brother, Sammy Don Jones, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Evadale; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 20 years, Hazel Jones; and his son in law, Charlier Crawford.
A gathering of George’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. with his funeral service to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel 415 N. 4th Street Silsbee, TX 77656. His interment will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery 437 County Road 4540 Spurger, TX 77660.
