George Marshall Obituary

.

George Kurtis “Kurt” Marshall, 70, of Southeast Texas, entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2026. A man of great character, rhythm, and warmth, Kurt will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his lifelong passion for music.

Born on October 9, 1955, in Kountze, Texas, Kurt was the son of the late Herbert “Eddy” Marshall and Ernestine Finley Marshall. Following his formative years, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

A gifted and passionate musician, Kurt’s lifelong love for the drums reflected his vibrant spirit. He possessed a profound appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, from the excitement of a NASCAR race and his Hot Wheels collection to the quiet comfort of cooking a meal or sharing a stout cup of coffee. Above all, Kurt was known for his contagious smile and his legendary, heartfelt hugs.

He is survived by his daughter, Kara Powell, and her husband James of Buna, TX; and his six grandchildren, Kenner, Levin, Xander, Xeke, Lyndie, and Xade, all of whom were his greatest pride. He also leaves behind three brothers: Herbert Marshall Jr. and wife Carolyn of Silsbee, TX; Aaron Marshall and wife Robbie of Silsbee, TX; and Chris Marshall and wife Terrie of Parrish, FL.

Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert “Eddy” and Ernestine Finley Marshall.

A memorial service in honor of his life and legacy will be held on March 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Honky Tonk Texas in Silsbee, Texas. The family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating a life truly well-lived. Kurt’s beat may have quieted, but the music of his life will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
