Gladys Louise (Jones) Strickland, 94, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Gladys was born on Friday, September 11, 1925 to Charles Jones and Florence McBryde Jones in Silsbee, Texas; Gladys was a lifelong Silsbee resident. Gladys had a sweet spirit, she was humble, appreciative, generous, content, and also possessed a sharp wit. Gladys was a loving wife and mother of three daughters, and she was a loyal friend. She loved her family more than life and lived on and took care of them; she was active until family made her stop for health reasons. Gladys smiled a lot and made others smile until the end. Known for her fried chicken, banana pudding, and cornbread dressing; her iron skillet was her best friend. She never let anyone go hungry or thirsty, especially for sweet tea. Her quirky southern way of speech will be missed by all who knew and loved her and those she loved.
Gladys was preceded in death by husband, Billie Earl Strickland; and her parents, Charles Jones, and Florence (McBryde) Jones.
Gladys is survived by her three daughters, Billie Louise Tucker, Annette Marie Lewis, and Paula Carol Rose; grandchildren, Deeanna Ghanem, and husband, Kim, Sheena Lowe, and husband, David, Tara Theiss, and husband, Randy, Mark McCauley, and wife, Darlene Hinson, Elizabeth Bryant, and husband, Mark, Clinton Butler, and Tonya Hebert; 17 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
The Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Chapel at Farmer Funeral Home. Funeral Services Honoring the Life of Gladys Louise Strickland will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10:00am. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Davis Cemetery, 15270 C.R. 317, Kirbyville, Texas 75956.
Services will be officiated by Brother Jeff Blizzard from New Covenant Assembly of God.
