MSG Grover “Scott” Haywood U.S. Army (Retired), left this earth for his Heavenly home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. As a retired Master Sergeant, his service assignments included; 103rd Supply Company, 353rd Transportation Battalion, and the 373rd Combat Sustainment Support Group. Scott also served as a full time civilian with the 353rd and the 373rd. Left to honor Scott’s memory is his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Margie Ward Haywood; sisters, Rita Joyce and Jackie McGuire (Kevin); nephews, Leonard Kevin McGuire, Jr., and SSG Richard Joshua McGuire (Amy); great niece, Alaina McGuire; sister-in-law, LaVerne Howland (Bobby), and brother-in-law Richard Ward. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred M. “Sonny” Haywood, Jr and Jeannette H. Jones along with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, T.J. and Ruth Ward.
Visitation will be 1-2pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee, TX. Full Military Honors will be rendered at RS Farmer Memorial Cemetery following the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Darrell Rashall, Chase Kelly, David Kelly, Claude Sirrmons, Bobby Howland, SSGJoshua McGuire. Honorary pallbearer: Jerry Mansfield. Scott’s family wishes to thank the many friends and family for their support and a special thanks to Col. Joe Boyd and the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
