Helen Marie (Ferguson) Olds, was born in Silsbee, Texas on March 27, 1939. She passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 85.
Helen was the fourth child of a family of eight children. They were all born to Arthur and Adeline (Smith) Ferguson. They were devout Mormons growing up. Helen was the last living member of her family except for a few nephews and nieces.
She married her husband, Johnnie Olds in 1956. Their love gave them six children. They were blessed with a marriage of 59 and a half years until cancer took Johnnie in 2016. Helen was a stay-at-home mother until 1970, and then took a job in the Evadale School cafeteria, which kept her closer to her kids. Later, she took a job as manager of the Eastex Paper Mill Cafeteria. She did this until she gave up working.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnnie; her parents; sisters, Vera Spears, Janette Hudgins; her five brothers, James, Sam, Robert, Ivy, and Richard Ferguson; in laws, who she loved, John and Ollie Mae Olds; infant daughter, Charlotte Marie; and her cherished son, John Dwayne Olds.
She leaves here with much love, sons; David (Rhonda), of Pineville, Louisiana and Michael (Kay) of Brookeland; daughters, Pat Spoonemore (Ricky), of Lumberton, Kathy Farrar, of Silsbee; she also was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Sharon Olds, of Olney Springs, Colorado, Debra Olds, of Eastpoint, Florida, Keisha Olds, of Nashville, Tennessee, Al Olds and Keagan Miller, of Silsbee, Ashley Manzer and Kirbi Barton, of Lumberton, Tyler Anderson, Meagan Lee, and Candice Whitmire, of Buna, Lauren Frederick, of Orangefield, Steven Anderson, of Friendswood; twenty nine great grandchildren; and two great greats
