Irma Lorraine (JoAnn) Penry Patterson, 88, of Nederland, TX passed away August 23, 2020. She was born November 03, 1931 in Silsbee to Joe and Ruth Penry. She was a strong, intelligent woman who dedicated her life to making the lives of her family and the life in her community better. She led by example.
She rose from poverty to being the successful owner of "Fish or Hunt '' convenience store after retiring from a long career at Texaco, Inc. She served as secretary of the Nederland Bulldogs Booster Club for years and helped raise thousands of dollars for the club. She was always willing to chair the concession stand, bar-b-que chickens, sell hot dogs or do whatever was needed. She was often recognized for her outstanding contributions to the club.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother that put family first. She thought of past and future generations long before she thought of self. She took care of her eldery Mother after her Father died and the two of them made a formidable team. They baked pies, made salads, painted rooms, baby-sat and were always ready to do for others. They loved to have family visit them in Nederland.
She is survived by her daughter Lucy Baden Leger and Ricky Reese of Pleasure Island, Texas; and daughter Dr. P.J. (Patsy) Lionetti and her husband Tom of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons Michael Lionetti and Kristen Rogers of New Orleans, Louisiana and Stephen Lionetti and his wife Sloane Taliaferro of Greenwich, Connecticut. She is preceded in death by her brother Ray Penry.
A graveside service will be held at 2PM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Knupple Cemetery in Silsbee.
