Jackie Baxter Obituary

Jackie Lynn Baxter, 82, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by love.

Jackie was born on September 6, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas, to Calvin Jack Baxter and Shirley Meadows Baxter. From the very beginning, Jackie was known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved.

Jackie grew up in Beaumont and was a graduate of South Park High School. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Teel, in 1965. After many years of working in the tire business for his father, Jackie and Barbara decided to take a leap of faith and founded Jackie Baxter Tire Company in 1978 in Lumberton. Their business was established with the attributes of unbeatable customer service, fair and honest prices, quality products, and Jackie always insisted on a top-notch mechanic. His customers turned into lifelong friends. Many who came through their doors didn't just leave with new tires, but with stories shared, a heart full of laughter, and memories made with him that time can't erase. Serving the community of Lumberton and surrounding areas for the last 47 years, the company is committed to continue on with the values that he bestowed and honor his legacy.

Outside of work, Jackie found peace and joy in the outdoors, sharing wonderful memories with his wife, Barbara. They spent all their spare time hunting, fishing, and tending to their garden. Old Westerns and watching the Dallas Cowboys playing on TV were a familiar sound in their home. Over the years, he had a deep connection with all his fur babies, and he didn't leave home without them. In his younger years, he enjoyed talking on his CB radio—a simple pleasure that connected him to friends near and far. He lived life in a way that valued quiet moments and meaningful connections.

Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Jack Baxter and Shirley Meadows Baxter, and his sister, Sharon Baxter Jacobs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Teel Baxter; daughters, Stacie Baxter Cormier and husband Chris Alan Cormier, and Barbara Lynn Baxter Black and husband Kevin Floyd Black; sister, Shirley Ann Threet and husband Bobby Threet; grandchildren, Connie Cormier Fregia, Christie Nicole Cormier, Nolan Jackie Baxter, Kristian Reese Black, Kevin Skyler Black, Blythe Rose Marie Black, and Madison Thibodeaux; and great-grandchildren, Parker Lane Fregia and Oakley Mae Fregia. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of family and friends who cherished him dearly.

Jackie was the heart of his family—a steady hand, a listening ear, and a source of endless love. His spirit lives on through the stories shared at family tables and gatherings, the memories made with his precious wife, Barbara Ann, and the laughter of his children and grandchildren.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
