James O. Baird, 78, of Kountze, died Saturday, September 14, 2024 at his home. He was born in Navasota, on January 25, 1946, to James Grady and Janie Lee (Gentry) Baird.
James was a United States Navy Veteran and spent his working career as a truck driver. He will be remembered for his hard-working demeanor, his enjoyment of hunting and fishing, gardening, working on cars, and being a regular jack of all trades.
He is survived by his sons; James “Pokey” Baird, and his girlfriend, Shawna Bruce, Marty Baird, and his wife, Joyce, and Cliff Baird, and his wife, Chance; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. James will be especially missed by his faithful canine companion Lil Bit.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 45 years, Lois Baird; brothers, Belton, and Cecil Baird; and his sister, Susie Lee Sunday.
A gathering of Mr. Baird’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel 415 N. 4th Street Silsbee, TX 77656. Interment will follow immediately at Franks Branch Cemetery, in Fred.
