James Oneal Curtice, 92, began his eternal journey on November 26, 2024.
He was born on October 24, 1932, in Evergreen, Alabama, to Morton Augustus Curtice and Sadie Mae Smith. His family moved to Texas in 1938.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He and the mother of his children, Jerdine Klecka Curtice, began raising their chidren in Port Arthur. They moved to Nederland in 1963. He worked as a lab technician at Jefferson Chemical Company for over 40 years. After retiring from Jefferson Chemical, he began a real estate business in the Hardin County area and had a very successful business for over 30 years. He became an accomplished speaker while serving as a member of the Toastmasters International organization. He assisted in recruiting new members and served as a mentor to them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Jerdine Klecka Curtice, wife Linda Hickman Curtice, and his brothers Charles Curtice and Morton Curtice.
He is survived by his children, Paula Smith and husband Lloyd, James Oneal Curtice, Jr. and wife Darlene, Britt Curtice and wife Mariann, Tracy Curtice and wife Kim, and Jeffrey Curtice and wife, Dianna, grandchildren, Bryan Curtice and wife Dedra, Jeremy Curtice and wife Shannon, Brittney Curtice and Carra Curtice, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, his wife Linda’s children, and brother in law Billy Klecka and wife Sarah.
