James Lee Sims, 77, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on November 13, 2025 after suffering from Alzheimer’s. James was born in Silsbee, Texas on March 25, 1948 to Irene Shuptrine and JL Sims.
During James’ Senior year in high school, he began working as a mail carrier in Silsbee for the United States Postal Service. In 1981, he moved to Tucson, Arizona. It was there he became an avid skier as well as an ardent bicyclist, riding in the El Tour de Tucson race several years. James continued working as a postman for 37 years until his retirement
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christine Hargrave and husband Randy of Beaumont, Nathan Fleetwood and wife Cyndee of Orange, and Natalie Stafford and husband Nathan of Beaumont; granddaughters, Bethany Hargrave and fiancé Breanna Smith, Lindsey Fleetwood, Landrey Fleetwood, and Lexi Brock; grandsons, Matthew Burge, Cody Burge, and Levi Fleetwood; siblings, Dorothy Burk of Lumberton; Roy Lynn Sims of Nacogdoches; Eddie Joe Sims and wife Penny of Spring Branch; Jerry Dale Sims and wife Jennifer of Roswell, New Mexico; and JL Sims, Jr. and wife Dee of New Castle, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Irene and JL Sims Sr.; and his siblings Jimmy Dale Sims, Sarah Ola Oliver, Glenda Gale Sims, and Glen Edward Sims.
