Jessy Winston Green was born July 4, 1933, in Hardin County to Mose and Bessie Green. He passed away August 4, 2025, at Silsbee Oaks Health Care, at the age of 92.
Jessy married Verble Green, and they became foster parents, later adopting three children, ages 2, 4, and 5. He worked as a pipefitter out of Local Union 195, for many years before retiring. Jessy was a die-hard Silsbee Tiger fan, making every game possible. He helped found and promoted Alcoholics Anonymous in Hardin County and was faithful to the program, having received a 50-year chip. To Jessy no one did things better than his grandkids. Jessy was known to have the best memory. He could answer any questions that he was asked about Hardin County, up until his death.
When his health began to fail and he could not get around good, the Golden State Warriors became his basketball team to follow. Jessy was as hard of a worker as anyone could be, pipefitting, roughnecking, drilling water wells, hunting, fishing, farming, and was a good cook.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Mose and Bessie Green; wife Verble Green; son Roy Green; granddaughter Belinda Gail Jordan; granddaughter in-law Pam Jordan; great granddaughter Lakyn Nichols; brothers, Raymond, Ernest, and Herman Green; sisters, Ethel Jones, Ruby Rogers, Daisy Busby, and Jean Ward.
Jessy is survived by his two daughters, Patsy Lamb of Silsbee and Sheila Newton and husband Trey, of Marysville, Indiana; brother Charles Green of Lumberton; grandchildren, Tommy Keith Jordan, of Silsbee, Patty Hatton and husband Carroll, of Spurger, Julie Neubauer and husband Wayne, of Silsbee, Aaron Newton and Halea Newton of Marysville, Indiana, and Roy Green II of Germany; 9 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Silsbee Oaks Health Care for their exceptional care in his last days.
