JoAnn Holland

JoAnn Holland, 87, of Kountze, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.

JoAnn was born on July 18, 1938, in Rush County to Wilmer and Annie Cates. JoAnn proudly served in the United States Air Force. She worked with Market Basket in the bakery for many years and also in retail. JoAnn loved spending time in the garden, working with flowers and plants; she loved the outdoors and spent her free time crabbing and fishing. JoAnn enjoyed playing dominoes and games with her friends and had a deep love for her animals. She was also a talented cook and will often be remembered for the quality meals she served.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Eddie “Buster” Mayea and Jeff Holland, and one brother, Wilmer “Son” Cates.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Welty; six grandchildren, Brittany Walters, Lace Lewis, Dillon Mayea, Avery Holland, Tommy Holland, and Jeffrey Holland; Survivors also include a host of several great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and close friends.
