Joe Donald Mitchell

Mr. Joe Donald Mitchell, age 66, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Born November 30, 1954, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents Oliver and Julia (Weeks) Mitchell, Joe had lived in Lumberton since the age of three. He retired as an operator at Exxon Mobil after 42 years of service. Joe had a great love of sports, enjoying most kind of ball games--watching or participating.

Joe had a big heart and warm spirit. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He found great pleasure in entertaining family and friends for all kinds of gatherings and get togethers. Joe, a faithful Christian man, was a charter member of Crestwood Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Kathy Mitchell of Lumberton, Texas; his sons, Jody Mitchell and wife Amy of Huntington, Texas, Scott Mitchell and wife Ashley of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jordan Mitchell and wife Shannon of Lumberton, Texas; grandchildren, Joe Donald Mitchel III, Gavin Lee Mitchell, Zoe Jayne Mitchell, and Julia Lynn Mitchell, in addition to grandson "Baby Charlie Mitchell," to be born in April; a brother, Buster Mitchell and wife Connie of Lumberton, Texas; his sisters, Cynthia Lee and husband Bill of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Teresa Orr and husband Darrell of Lumberton, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Julia Mitchell.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Crestwood Baptist Church, located at 1150 U.S. Hwy. 69, between Lumberton and Kountze.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Crestwood Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Lowe officiating. Interment will follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee, Texas.

Pallbearers: Buster Mitchell, Trey Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Ryan Verde, Shawn Gallet, Dyllan Voorhies, Ryan Verde Jr., and Nolan Mitchell.
