Joseph Firmin Obituary

Joseph “Jay or J.W.” Firmin, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away April 18, 2024, at the age of 96, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on March 11, 1928, in Plaucheville, Louisiana, to the late Louis Firmin and Eula DuFour-Firmin.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, completing two tours of duty. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Joseph embarked on a distinguished career at Texaco, where he dedicated over 38 years of service. He worked diligently, rising through the ranks to retire as a Maintenance Supervisor. His leadership, dedication, and expertise were respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

During his tenure at Texaco, Joseph had the opportunity to travel the world, representing the company in various capacities. His assignments took him to diverse locations, including Sweden, Guatemala, and various parts of the United States, like Washington, and included Louisiana, where he cherished his roots and family ties. Outside of his professional life, Joseph found joy in various hobbies and activities. He loved the Lord and enjoyed attending and serving at Central Baptist Church in Buna, Texas. Joseph had a passion for travel, and in retirement, he fulfilled his dreams of exploring the open road with his RV, journeying to countless destinations and creating lifelong memories along the way. He had a green thumb and spent so many hours tending to his flower garden, finding solace in the beauty of nature. Joseph also enjoyed fishing and shrimping, often sharing tales of his adventures on the water with friends and family. He had a gift for storytelling and could captivate an audience with his vivid anecdotes and quick wit. In his spare time, Joseph could often be found in his workshop, building things with his hands and bringing his or Jerry’s creative visions to life. What an amazing man!

Josephs greatest joy in life was his family. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Jerry Ann Firmin. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Kenth and Darlene Firmin; daughter Connie Saddler; daughter and son-in-law Mary and Kent Wallace; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Barbara Firmin; daughter and son-in-law Llara Firmin- Lira and Mark Lira; daughter and son-in-law Tara Firmin-Hecht and Marty McGough; son and daughter-in-law Carroll and Teresa Hebert; daughter and son-in-law Becky and Bobby Richard; daughter and son-in-law Georgia and Brian Johnson; daughter and son- in-law Bambi Hebert and Steve Monk; and son Bill Hebert.
