Joyce Leverne Shuff

Joyce Leverne Shuff, 90, of Lumberton passed away Sunday August 24,2025. She was born on January 27,1935 in Zavalla, Texas to Louie and Ollie Jacks.

The family eventually moved to Beaumont Texas where she attended and graduated French High School.

Joyce was employed by Temple Inland and while there continued her education and became one of the first female certified electricians for that company. She retired after 28 years of service with 15 of that being an electrician.

Once she retired, she loved traveling the United States and seeing such places as Washington State, Nevada, Colorado, etc and finally settling down to enjoy working in her flower beds and in her yard. She was especially proud of her azaleas in front of her house and waited each year for

them to bloom.

She loved her family immensely and cherished every moment with them, and enjoyed quilting and sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren by having them over on Tuesday nights for supper. Cooking them such things meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, and jambalaya.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, memaw, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Harold Shuff, both parents, daughter Donna Luttrull, and brothers Robert, Charles (Bud), and Kenneth Jacks. Sister Dorothy Riley

Joyce is survived by her three sons, Walter Scarborough and wife Faith, David Scarborough and wife Wendy, and Barry Scarborough and wife LaToya; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and family members and friends.
