Judith Prince (Plake) Obituary

Judith Ann Prince (Plake) passed away on February 10, 2020 at the age of 74, in Beaumont, Texas. She was the youngest daughter born to Arthur Franklin Reeves and Eunice Janelle Swilling on September 10, 1945, in Oakland, CA. Judith graduated from James Lick High School in San Jose, CA in 1963. She went to community college for 2 years becoming a secretary. Judith spent her time enjoying life, loving everyone, and befriending everyone she met. She was a kind, gentle, loving, empathetic, authentic, and pure hearted person.

On April 10th, 1971 Judith married Glover Prince, then moved home to San Jose, CA. Being formally educated as a secretary, she found her path as a phone operator for Southwestern Bell. In 1978 Judith and Glover welcomed their son Justice John Prince. During the 70’s, Glover and Judith enjoyed watching “Laugh In” on tv.

In 1979 the Prince family relocated to Warren, TX. Judith loved her family. She loved to write letters when she couldn’t travel to see her close family. In 1980 they welcomed another son Wesley Reeves Prince. Justice and Wesley meant the world to her, bedtime kisses and prayers, always making sure everyone was taken care of. Holidays in the Prince home were always special with Judith cooking amazing meals for everyone. She continued working with Southwestern Bell until the Silsbee branch closed, then transferred to the Beaumont branch until her retirement in 1999, after working for 32 years.

In 2003 Judith was diagnosed with MS and by 2010 she had become bedridden. In 2011 Glover passed away and 5 years later, Judith fell in love. On September 26, 2015, she married Mikie Plake. They enjoyed watching “Law & Order” on tv together.

Judith had many hobbies that included sewing, making crafts, and organizing. Before the birth of her first grandchild, Delaney Prince, she made a giant scrapbook of pictures and mementos. After being in the nursing home she had so many ideas in mind, with the help of other people’s hands she was able to make things. Judith loved to give. That was her hobby of hobbies. She taught about Jesus and lived it as well. Judith loved Christian contemporary music but her family will also recall her love of 50’s and 60’s music. Her grandchildren were her most precious treasures, seeing them grow, laugh and play. But the one she admired and loved and spent the happiest years of her life with was Mikie, with the most special time being the last 10 years in the nursing home.

Judith Ann Prince (Plake) was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Reeves and Eunice Swilling Reeves; her brother, Bob Reeves; her nephew, Tony Williams; and her first husband and the father of her children, Glover “Dee” Prince.

Left to cherish the memory of Judith are her sons, Justice John Prince and Wesley Reeves Prince; her husband, Mikie Plake; her older sister, Sarah Trigg; Sarah’s children, Bill Williams, Daniel Williams, Mike Williams and Karen Null; sister-in-law Gloria Reeves and her children, Garrett Reeves and Veda Shook.
