Kathy Briggs Obituary

Kathy Jo Briggs, 66, of Silsbee passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was born May 5, 1955 in Albany, Texas to the late JB Halford and Billie Jo Cogbill.

 

Kathy’s hobbies included playing games such as Yahtzee and Skip Bo, listening to music, and spending hours on the phone with her friends. She loved fishing, cooking, baking goodies, and doing crafts with her grandchildren. Kathy absolutely adored and loved her dogs. She collected dog clothes and dog stuff for them as well. She also enjoyed watching movies, especially dog movies and Christian movies. Some of her other favorite movies were Little House on The Prairie, Highway to Heaven, The Rifleman and The Buddy Holly movie. She loved singing songs, especially songs from church. She also loved hearing and bragging about her grandchildren. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Silsbee. She also formerly taught Missionettes and Sunday School for her church in Denver City many years ago. She loved God with all of her heart and had a personal relationship with Him. Kathy prayed and read her Bible daily. She was truly loved and will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Blakely Halford and Billie Jo Cogbill, her grandparents; her MeMaw and PaPa, Ethel Matilda Halford and John Benjamin Halford; and a best friend, Connie Markley. 

Kathy is survived by her children, Wynette Arlan and husband, Dennis of Silsbee, Bryan Spencer and wife Hope of Silsbee, Stephany Atwell and husband Tanner of Lake Charles; brother, Louis Halford of Winters, brother, Myron Halford of Ballinger, brother, Darren Halford of Fredericksburg, sister, Brenda McPhearson of Abilene; grandchildren, Erin Basham and husband Morgan, Eric Arlan and wife Alexis, Allyssa Arlan, Kaylee Cates, Jane Pufpaff, Kynslee Spencer, Kolden Spencer, Kamryn Spencer, Wesson Pierce, Aralynn Atwell, Blakley Atwell, Caspian Atwell, Tank Atwell; great-grandson Tobias Arlan, and one great-grandson on the way.

A Memorial Service honoring Kathy’s life will be held at 1PM Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Silsbee.

Cremation services were held under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.
