Leon Winn Obituary

Leon was born to John W. Winn and Beaulah May (Fontenot) Winn, in Oakdale, Louisiana on August 31, 1928.  On August 6, 1950, Leon married the love of his life, whom he met at a diner where she worked.  He then left to enter the service.  Later, Leon saw Edna at a swimming hole. They started dating and married six weeks later.  After moving to Evadale in 1962, they had their forever home built, where they raised ten kids together.  Leon enjoyed growing and maintaining a big garden, mowing his yard, and working in his flower beds.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a mason for 50+ years.  He worked at the paper mill in Evadale for 37 years, where he was a superintendent over the power house.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Winn and Beaulah Mae (Fontenot) Winn; his wife of 69 years, Edna R. (Hazelton) Winn; son, Greg Winn; daughters, Suzanne Winn and Jeanette Baker Winn; in addition to two sisters and two brothers.

Leon is survived by his children: Rodney L. Winn and wife, Carolyn; Linda Radley, Michael D. Winn and wife, Maria; Terry Winn and wife, Raemma; Debbie Fraser and husband, David; Richard Winn and wife, Kim; and Sandy Masters and husband, David; as well as his 29 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
