Linda Jean Duke (72) of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday morning, March 10, 2021 in Beaumont, Texas. Linda was born December 28, 1948 in Anahuac, Texas.
Linda was the second eldest of eight siblings. She was a beautiful selfless person, strong and attentive toward those around her. At a very young age she was thrust into the large roll of motherhood, stepping up after their mother, Letha Mae Blackwell, passed away in 1966. Linda never forsook her siblings or family members, she carried out life filled with love and concern. She was an amazing woman with an ambition to love and care for those who needed her. Linda was a retired care provider at Texas Home Health for more than 30 years. It was the most fitting career for her gracious and loving spirit. A career that she loved and held dearly, caring for others was her life. Her memory will forever be cherished in the lives of her family.
Linda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harry Duke Sr; her son, Harry Duke Jr. and his wife, Jodilee Duke; her grandson, William; her granddaughters, Janet and Emmalea, her great granddaughter, Alexis; her brothers, James Harold Blackwell, Bobby Blackwell, John Paul Blackwell, Tommy Blackwell, Wayne Blackwell; her sisters, Marilyn Sue Blackwell, and Carol Ann Downs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Bob” Fannin Blackwell and Letha Mae Blackwell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 1pm-2pm, immediately followed by a graveside service at Knupple Cemetery.
