Mabel “Cooter” Foster, 89, of Spurger passed away Wednesday January 10, 2024. She was born March 29, 1934 in Bess May, Texas to the late Kermit Buxton and Nannie Ruth Franklin.
Mabel was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Spurger. She was also a member of the Golden Triangle Emmaus Community. In her spare time, she loved to tend to her garden, and cook meals for her family. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years Marvin Edward Foster Sr.; sister Joyce Hammock; grandson Jody Garrett; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Williams; step grandson Marvin E. Foster III.
Mabel is survived by her children, James Birdwell and wife Regina, Glinda Cole and husband Al; Melodie Sammons and husband Daniel; stepchildren, Marvin Edward Foster Jr. and wife Sandra, Billy Wayne Foster and wife Bonita; sister, Vonita Meche; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
