Martha “Nana” Ann Breedlove, 87, of Lumberton, passed away on April 20, 2026.
Martha was born on July 23, 1938, in Hughes Springs, TX, to Will D. Loyd and Janie Bell Abernathy. In 1959, she met her match, Glenn W. Breedlove, and they shared 53 years of marriage, building a legacy of love, laughter, and family. They attended Woodcrest Methodist Church for over 30 years.
Martha graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1959 and spent more than 50 years caring for others. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, and her skills extended far beyond the hospital. She was known to carry superglue and sutures in her purse, ready to “patch up” her children and grandchildren whenever needed.
She was a remarkable woman who enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, and participating in chili and gumbo cook-offs. A lover of nature, she found joy in gardening, hunting, and fishing. She also loved visiting Branson, Missouri, and embraced every opportunity to travel. It was also said that she had a magical cabinet that held anything and everything someone could need. Above all, Martha deeply loved and cherished her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Glenn; her son, William; her daughter, Marla Nanette; and her brother, Larry Gene Loyd.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Breedlove and his wife, Terri, and Richard Breedlove and his wife, Sharon; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nancy Loyd
