Mary Hatton Obituary

Mary Ann Hatton, age 83 of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2024 surrounded by her children. Mary Ann was born on November 12, 1940 to Lee A. and Kathleen Daniel Wolcott of Kountze.

After graduating from Kountze High School in 1959, she went on to marry the love of her life, Carroll Beauford Hatton in October of that same year. They later had three sons.
Mary Ann was a teacher’s aide with Silsbee ISD for special needs children. She retired in the 1990’s as the Hardin County Precinct Commissioners Secretary, and later went on to help her sons as a store clerk at Fred Grocery. She was also a volunteer at Fred Elementary and served 24 years as a volunteer for Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home. Mary Ann was a loyal Christian and member of the Kountze Church of Christ.

Mary Ann is reunited in death by her parents, husband Carroll after 48 years apart, brother Daniel Wolcott, brothers in law Rob Roberts and Gary Smith, and sisters in law Audrey Wolcott and Delores Jordan.

She is survived by her sons and their wives: Keith and Julie Hatton of Hillister, Carroll and Patty Hatton of Spurger, and Kyle and Juanita Hatton of Fred, sisters Jane Roberts and Marie Smith of Kountze, brother Mack Wolcott and wife Faylene of Harriman, Tennessee, brothers in law Dan Jordan of Spurger, Eddie Hatton of Woodville, and David Hatton and his wife Nancy of Spurger,
grandkids Justin Hatton and wife Heather, Dallas Hatton and wife Abbi, Travis Hatton, Brittany Williams and husband Scott, Shelby Saulsbury and husband Rawdon, Halea Fant and husband John, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Ann was determined to raise her young boys to be strong men like their father after his early death. They were raised by a God fearing woman that passed down healthy work ethics, outstanding morals, and strong family devotion. Her legacy, tenacity, and her Christian devotion to helping others, is carried on within each family member.
