Matthew Trae McNeil, 41, of Silsbee Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Matthew was born on Sunday, April 1, 1979 in Kirbyville, Texas to Robert and Linda McNeil. "Matthew grew up at the Silsbee Little League park" according to his mother; the youngest of three brothers, he was always there when they played, and when he was old enough; he played and was an all-star. Matthew also played soccer and was an all around athlete. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish.
According to his family Matthew was a strong-willed man; but he loved his family and would give you the shirt off his back to help. His inner strength helped Matthew deal with the many health challenges he had for so very long. His family described him as reliable, loving, playful, and family oriented. Matthew's brother Robert posted the following: "I'm going to miss being a Big Brother, you only get this one time in your life and now it's gone. But you are in a better place now, no more suffering and pain for you. My little brother I'm glad you made it as long as you did, 41 years with us. I will miss you very much; tell Daddy I say Hello and I miss him too. I LOVE YOU BOTH."
Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Robert E. McNeil, Jr., and a sister, Kimberley McNeil.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Linda McNeil; three children, Keylee, Austin, and Aspyn McNeil; two brothers, Gareld McNeil, and wife, Brandy, and Robert McNeil, and wife, Rhonda; nieces and nephews, Gareld Michael, Aimee, Adam, and Olivia McNeil, Makayla Terrell, Quentin, and Tracin McNeil, and Justin Tauzin; three great nieces, and numerous other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Chapel at Farmer Funeral Home. Services Honoring the Life of Matthew Trae McNeil will be held immediately at 4:00pm.
