Maurice Wilder, 89, of Midland passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020. He was born in Mineola, Texas on September 8, 1930 to the late Reuel S. Wilder and Marjorie Mitchell Wilder.
Maurice (often called Pete by his family) was a vast person with many interests. He dropped out of school in the 8th grade to care for his siblings, but that didn’t stop him from holding various careers throughout the years. He married the love of his life, Mirtie Bailey, on January 29, 1959. Mirtie had two sons that Maurice immediately took in as his own. They never used the word “step”; they were his sons. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was a caretaker to all and never judged. His family and friends always felt safe in his presence. Maurice was also loved by many friends and made an impression on everyone he met. He settled on a career in HVAC heating and air and was an expert in his field. Maurice was loved and cherished and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife of 56 years, Mirtie Wilder.
Maurice is survived by his children, Dollie Culver and husband Allan of Silsbee, Dwayne Beard of Burnett, Dave Beard and wife Marta of Ranger; siblings, Jimmie Wilder and wife Deb of Florida, Billie Wilder and wife Becky of Midland, Tommie Wilder and wife Sandy of California, Linda Hedges of San Angelo; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
