Melissa Ann (Crane) Smart

Melissa Ann Crane Smart, 33, of Silsbee passed away Friday July 25, 2025. She was born on Tuesday April 28, 1992, in Beaumont, to J.W. and Donna Crane.

Melissa was a bright young woman, who radiated light, laughter, and positivity in every aspect of her life. Touching so many lives in the community with her bright smile and selflessness. To know Melissa was to know joy and love. She was strong-willed, compassionate, and full of energy. While attending Silsbee High School she was involved in many extracurricular activities such as FFA, playing softball, and being a member of the high school band; all leading to her dedication to serving her community as Executive Director of the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce, advocating for the ‘Save the Pines’ organization, and working with the Visitors Center. Melissa was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and community member; she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of eight years, Otis Smart Jr., grandparents Jelly and Jo Crain, H.C. Crane, Dannie Lee “Cookie” McLelland, and her precious fur baby Puddin.

Melissa is survived by her parents, J.W and Donna Crane; children Maycy Smart and fiancé Clayton White and Taylor Smart and wife Sydni; grandchildren, C.J., Callen, and Corbin White, Olivia and Ellie Smart; siblings, Shandee Billings and husband Robert, and Jodee Crane and fiancé Joseph Hutcherson; nieces and nephews, Audri, Jack, Nathan, and Karlyn; and a host of other family members and friends.
