Myrtle Ferguson Obituary

Myrtle Louise Young Ferguson, 92 of Silsbee, was born to Richard and Sarah Pearl Young September 30, 1927 in San Augustine, Texas. Myrtle is a graduate of San Augustine High School. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and remained a dedicated member of her church for the rest of her life.

She fell in love and 6 months later married the adoring late Elbert James Ferguson and they made their home in Silsbee for 65 years. Their union was blessed by five beautiful children. Elbert preceded her in death in 2001.

All who knew her knows she served friends, loved ones, those in need humbly, faithfully and tirelessly. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of those touched by her spirit. She had a love for travel and adventure. She and Elbert loved to travel to bluegrass festivals enjoying each other’s company and the beautiful nature of God’s country. She was a proud member of the Red Hat society.

She quietly departed this life January 18, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Richard Young, her beloved husband, Elbert James Ferguson, her lovely sweet daughter, Joan Marie, brother Raymond Young, and sister Gloria McBride.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of the remaining four of her children; James Ferguson of Silsbee, Martha Fields of Bryan, Aubrey Ferguson of College Station and Wanda Lapham of College Station.
